The aim of the colloquium is to assess the state of the art on this subject; to outline an inventory of the known manuscripts of this work and of the modalities of its indirect tradition; and to fix the guidelines of the method conducive to a future critical edition. Towards this aim, the colloquium focuses on the manuscript dissemination of the single parts of the Shifa’, the codicological study of some of its best manuscripts, and the on-going projects of digital libraries and publications related to Avicenna’s philosophy. A special “didactic” session is devoted to students of Arabic language and philosophy. The interaction among specialists of Arabic logic, natural philosophy and metaphysics, experts of Avicenna’s thought and its reception, and connoisseurs of Arabic codicology – an attempt of a new methodology of scholarly communication – is the necessary starting-point to ground the research on the Arabic text of the Shifa’ on a properly scientific basis.Progam-Download: pisa_colloquium_22-24_09_10.pdf
